Kareem Brown Talks About Miami

Miami Norland standout Kareem Brown is one of the state's top defensive line prospects.

Brown measured at 6-foot-6 and 260 pounds at the Michigan State summer camp and was timed at a 4.95 in the 40. His size/speed combination is very similar to William Joseph at that age when he was beginning his senior season at Edison four years ago. Brown currently has a 2.5 GPA and no test to report yet.

Which schools have called you so far this month: North Carolina, N.C. State, Michigan State, and LSU. I missed some, too. Coach Shannon said he'd be calling me real soon.

Who are your written scholarship offers from: Well, remember last time I told you only Rutgers. Well, my coach told me later that he has several of my offers at school. Rutgers is the only one I got at home, but my coach has some of them (editor's note: Brown's coach has offers for Brown from Michigan State, UCF, N.C. State, Auburn, LSU, West Virginia, and Minnesota, so Brown now has eight written offers).

Have you scheduled any official visits yet: No sir.

What's up with Miami: You know I love the Canes. I would commit to them if they offered me.

Did you watch the Penn State game: Oh yeah - Miami really put it to them. I was paying close attention to the defensive line and I was very impressed. Those defensive ends looked great.

Brown and Norland is playing against Palmetto tonight, and I'll have a report on that game this weekend. He's clearly one of the state's top defensive linemen, and one to really watch as the season progresses.
