Harris talks on why this D will be better

Read on to see what outside linebacker Trent Harris is saying a few days before the season opener.

On the difference this year:
It’s much different than last year. We have a great group of guys who come to the locker room and practice field with lots of positive energy. We’re just ready for Saturday.

On how they’ve done it:
Bonding, a lot of trust with each other. It’s a lot easier to go play hard when you know the guy next to you will play hard. Trust is a big thing for us right now.

On being excited about the new stadium:
No. We have been focused on Bethune Cookman and that’s it. I’m sure it will be (louder) but it’ll be exciting no matter what. We’ll see what happens on Saturday.

On executing his job so well during camp:
A lot of it has to do with the outside linebackers I hang out with. Every night I have to study hard because the guy behind me is good. We have a lot of positive energy and we push each other. It’s not hard to not make a mistake when you have guys like that behind me,

On his 40 time right now:
I have no idea but I’m definitely faster.

On the improvements at OLB:
Kareem (Brown) has came in and we’ve been working a lot in practice. Hopefully it’ll show up in game week.

On when he makes mistakes:
Everyone makes mistakes. No one is perfect. If I have questions I go to Tyriq and ask. Everyone has a place to go with questions.

On Saturday’s opener:
I’m excited. It feels like it’s been a long time. I’m just excited to suit up and play with my team.

On Gus Edwards’ injury:
Yes. It’s a sad story. He will come back and be ready to play next season. He stays positive and is working hard to get back on the field. He’s been around the complex with us. He can be a great supporter. We have young running backs and he’s done a great job working with them.

On the two running backs:
They’re both explosive players. They can both cut, lower their shoulder and bring power. They have different skill sets but they’re both tough running backs.
