Gage Batten talks about starting role

Read on to see what new starting fullback and Auburn transfer Gage Batten is saying about now being a Miami Hurricane.

On fall camp:
It’s been an experience but you just trust your talent and trust the process.

On being here now:
I’m just extremely blessed. I’m from Palm Beach Gardens and grew up a Miami fan. I played games in the Orange Bowl growing up.

On his family:
They’re really excited. A lot of my family is coming to the game. They didn’t get a chance to come to Auburn because of the distance. My grandparents live in Pine Crest.

On his friends:
My phone has been blowing up since the announcement. I have friends blowing me up on facebook who are Miami fans.

On being first team;
I felt like it was coming. I thought I was doing what the coaches were asking of me but to see it in print was awesome.

On leaving Auburn:
I had to leave Auburn and I had a chance to join the University of Miami and it was a dream come true.

On helping the freshmen:
Just ignore the noise. I played in an SEC championship game. I’ve been where these guys want to be. Even some older guys, knowing how they are in the locker room, we’re trying to motivate the younger guys.

On having played for 4 coaches:
My first year I played for Gene Chizik. We went 3-9 and he got fired. We had an interim coach before Coach Malzahn got hired and now I have Coach Golden so that’s the fourth.
