According to various reports, former Hurricane quarterback Mark Richt will be named the next head coach at the University of Miami.
Richt has spent the last 15 seasons as head coach at the University of Georgia, where he was one of the winningest coaches in all of college football. Prior to becoming head coach in Athens, Richt spent 14 seasons as quarterbacks coach at Florida State -- he also called plays for the Seminoles for the final seven of those years.
Under Richt's leadership, the FSU offense had been one of the nation's best. In his seven years as offensive coordinator, the Seminoles finished in the nation's top five in scoring offense five times and top 12 in total offense five times.
Richt, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, played quarterback behind Jim Kelly at Miami before beginning his coaching career.
The school has not officially announced the hire yet but is expected to do so on Thursday.
