Big Recruiting Weekend for UM

This is a big recruiting weekend at the University of Miami. Read on to see where the Canes currently stand with all the players who are on campus for the weekend.

QB Jack Allison -- One of the nation's top quarterback prospects, Allison has been committed to Miami for a long time and has never wavered. He and his father both expressed excitement over the Mark Richt hire, and four UM coaches were in his home the other night. He's a rock solid commitment and will likely be doing some recruiting of his own this weekend.

LB Shaquille Quarterman -- A premier linebacker prospect from Jacksonville, Quarterman was one of Miami's first commitments. He still got recruited nationally but never wavered from his commitment. He's expected to start school next month. He spent time sitting with Richt at the Booker T/Raines state championship game last weekend.

LB Michael Pinckney -- Along with Quarterman, Pinckney is one of the top prospects in the city of Jacksonville. He made an early commitment, never wavered, and is expected to start school next month.

DE Patrick Bethel -- The son of a former Hurricane tight end (Randy Bethel), Bethel is one of the top rated defensive end prospects in the state. At 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, the Vero Beach High standout has been considering the Canes all along but his interest went up when Richt got the job. He's already taken visits to Tennessee and Auburn and now Miami has a chance to take the lead this weekend. There's a good chance he'll end up here.

LB Zach McCloud -- One of the state's top linebacker prospects, McCloud was an early commitment to Miami but backed off after Al Golden was fired. Richt, Larry Scott, and Hurlie Brown visited his home last week and he's now on campus for a visit. Auburn, where he visited recently, has always been the top competition but he's now likely going to come back into this class.

TE Isaac Nauta -- A surprise late addition to this weekend's visitor list, Nauta is a five-star tight end prospect from ING Academy in Bradenton. His family lives in Buford, GA so they're very familiar with Richt, whose hiring had a big impact here. This is an unofficial visit, however, since he's already taken the allotted five official visits. He's been to Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, and Michigan. He's not committed anywhere and this visit speaks highly of his interest in playing for Richt. Miami is now seriously in the mix and this will be worth watching closely in the coming weeks.
