Canes land commitment from All-American CB

The Hurricanes have several official visitors on campus this weekend for what will likely be a huge recruiting weekend. One of them kicked it off by making his commitment to the Canes Friday morning. Read on.

Malek Young became the first player to commit to Miami during the Mark Richt era. It happened this morning.

"Blessed to officially be a Cane at heart," he said afterwards on social media.

At 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds, Young just finished playing in the US Army All-American Game. A one-time Georgia commitment, the Coconut Creek High standout backed off his pledge from the Bulldogs last month when Richt was fired. Miami quickly became a player for him at that point.

Young, who also took an official visit to Ohio State back in October, is among the state's most heavily recruited cornerback prospects this year. Some of his other offers include Michigan, Auburn, Florida State, and Clemson.
