Breaking Down This Class (Jan 20)

Read on for the absolute latest on the current Hurricane recruiting class.

Since Golden's dismissal, the Canes have lost commitments from TE Evan Hinson, DE Izon Pulley, RB Zack Moss, OL Jawaan Taylor, WR Ahmmon Richards, WR Reginald Henderson, and DE Jaquwan Nelson.

Here's where they stand right now:

Hinson -- he's not being recruited by the new staff and visited South Carolina last weekend. He's set to see USC this coming weekend.

Pulley -- he's not being recruited by the new staff. He visited UConn and is now set to see Illinois this weekend. His recruiting coach here, Paul Williams, is now on the Illini staff.

Moss -- The new staff didn't recruit him and he committed to Utah but Tennessee made an in-home this weekend and may make a late run at him.

Taylor -- he is committed to Florida. The new staff is trying.

Richards -- the new staff is all over him and it's shaping up to be a UM/Bama battle.

Henderson -- no longer being recruited

Nelson -- The new staff isn't on him and he has remaining visits to Purdue, Syracuse, and Georgia (who just offered him a few days ago)

In other commitment news:

4-star CB Deion Jackson and 3 star CB James Wiggins are expected to sign elsewhere. Jackson's had some off the field issues and Wiggins is not being recruited much by the new staff.

5 of UM's early commitments are in school already -- Jack Allison, Shaq Quarterman, Zach McCloud, Mike Pinckney, and Patrick Bethel.

Previous commitments who are still committed:

Michael Irvin and Tyler Byrd -- solid and not taking other visits

Sam Bruce -- committed but Urban Meyer was in his home tonight and is making a serious run at him. It could go either way.

Travis Homer, Dionte Mullins, Joseph Jackson, and Cedric Wright -- visited last weekend and they're all solid.

New commitments since Richt took over:

McCloud & Bethel (enrolled)

3 star CB Malek Young, 3-starWR Latrell Williams, and 2-star S Jeff James.
