Weekend Visit Recap

It was a big recruiting weekend for the Hurricanes and a lot is already happening with the group that was here. CanesTime's Mike Bakas has all the latest and breaks it all down here.

WR Sam Bruce -- One of the nation's top WR prospects, Bruce has been committed to Miami for a long time but Ohio State has made a very strong push lately. He may announce his "final" commitment today but this one will likely come down to NSD. Unfortunately, a lot of signs are pointing to Ohio State but I think he'll go with his original commitment and pick the Canes.

WR Randrecous Davis -- He was committed to Mark Richt at UGA but then was offered by Miami right away after Richt got the job here. He de-committed from UGA today after returning from Miami and even though he plans to see South Carolina this weekend all signs point to Davis signing with the Canes.

WR Kelvin Harmon -- A one-time South Carolina commitment, Maryland has been in the driver's seat lately. I think this visit will change that, and he'll be a late commitment to the Canes. He plans to announce on Feb 1.

TE Jovani Haskins -- The visit here definitely helped but West Virginia and Virginia Tech are going to make this very difficult. He seems to have the best relationship with WVU's coaches and so that's where I believe he'll end up.

OL Lucas Niang -- He's a talented kid from the state of Connecticut, and his relationship with new OL coach Stacy Searels from his time at Va Tech is playing a big role here. Auburn and TCU are the other two finalists and I predict TCU will land him in the end.

DT Marcell Southall -- All signs were pointing to either Texas or Oklahoma until Miami jumped into the mix with an offer a few weeks ago. I was told his visit went really well and the Canes are very much in the running. While I'd like to predict Miami here based on what I'm hearing, until the new staff can go into Texas (late) and pluck away a kid Texas and OU want, I can't do it.

CB Tyler Byrd -- The player who's been committed to Miami the longest, Byrd is still committed here but plans to see Tennessee this coming weekend and the Vols are becoming a legitimate thread. Larry Scott was his primary recruiter here and is now recruiting him to Tennessee. Plus, one of his friends/teammates (a 4 star RB) is committed to Tennessee and visiting with him. In the end, I still predict Miami but this one will be worth watching closely this weekend and into next week.

CB Malek Young -- He's a former UGA commit who flipped to Miami a few weeks after Mark Richt got the job here. He is firmly committed here and has no other visit plans right now.

S Henry Miller -- He's a 3-star prospect from Kissimmee and was just offered by Miami recently. He's been committed to Pitt and I don't believe this visit swayed him enough to flip. Pitt is my prediction as of today.
