Tucker Leaves the Miami Football Program

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team announced today that senior running back Walter Tucker has left the team to pursue other collegiate opportunities.

“Walter and I spoke yesterday and he felt like he would have a better opportunity to finish his college football career and education at another university,” said head coach Mark Richt. “I wish him the very best.”

Tucker saw action in 10 games this past season, seeing most of his action on special teams.

“I will be forever thankful for the opportunity the University of Miami gave me,” Tucker said. “However at this point in my collegiate career, I believe this is the best move for my future.”

The 6-foot one-inch, 225-pound running back arrived in Coral Gables prior to the 2013 season after he starred in both football and track at American Heritage High School. He also was a two-time state champion in track and field.
