Canes land commitment from Texas TE

The Hurricanes dipped into the state of Texas for their newest commitment. Read on for details.

Brian Polendey is Miami's newest commitment for the 2017 class.

"I'm going to the U," Polendey announced on Wednesday.

At 6-foot-5 and 223 pounds, Polendey recently attended a Nike Camp in Dallas and here are the numbers he posted:

4.88/40
4.42/shuttle
33-inch vertical jump
40-foot power toss

For those unfamiliar with how combine numbers really work, those are excellent numbers. His speed and athleticism are certainly both big reasons why he was recruited the way he was. He also showed off good strength numbers.

The Denton (Guyer High) standout tight end also had scholarship offers from Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Houston, Colorado, and Arkansas so he was being recruited like a three-star prospect. The major programs that typically recruit the elite players in Texas (Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Oklahoma, etc) had expressed interest but had not given him a scholarship offer.

Polendey becomes Miami's 10th commitment in the Class of 2017, and the first tight end.
