OL Waiting on UM Offer

At 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Edison standout offensive lineman Jacky Claude can't wait for the season to get started.

"We've been putting in a lot of time this offseason," Claude said. "The coaches have been working us hard and we hope it'll pay off with a state championship."

Claude, whose teammates Richard Clebert (OL) and Brouce Mompremier (LB) are both UM prospects as well, has been playing football for a few years now.

"This will be my third year starting on varsity," he said. "I've gotten to like it more and more. I just enjoy having fun out there."

Claude, who put up 22 reps at 185 at the NIKE Camp in April, said he's maxing out at roughly 380 these days. His work ethic has caught head coach Corey Bell's attention.

"Jacky has really gotten serious this summer," Bell said. "He is ready to have a great senior year. I coached Carlos Joseph and I think Jacky has a chance to be even better. He's a great prospect."

The talented offensive lineman has the attention of several college coaches this year.

"My leader right now is Ohio State," he said. "I went to their camp earlier this summer and I loved it there. It's a great program and I think I fit into their plans. That's what they said too."

Claude lists the Buckeyes as a favorite ahead of the three Florida schools and LSU right now. He talked more about the Hurricanes.

"Miami's a great program too," he said. "I have rooted for them. I know people there and they know how to win. But they haven't offered any of us (Clebert and Mompremier) yet. They have talked about it but I guess they're waiting to see what happens this fall before they do anything. We'd all like to be [offered]."

Claude said his two teammates are hoping for UM offers as well.

"They'd like to be offered too," he said. "I hope Ohio State offers [teammate, offensive lineman] Marc [Dile] too. If they do, I might go ahead and commit."
