Q&A with Zach McCloud

Read on to see everything the freshman linebacker was saying following Tuesday's practice.

On the relationship he has with the early enrollee linebackers...
“We’re all living together. We are like the three amigos or three brothers. Some people call us the New Bermuda Triangle, but I don’t know about all that.”

On the message Coach Diaz has provided to the linebackers…
“You have to be good enough to play here. There is a reputation, a family and a whole wall of legendary linebackers that came out of this school. If you want to be one of them, you have to match up with them. He tells us about hard work and being relentless.”

On whether the defense being aggressive is something that will help him going forward…
“Definitely. I’ve never under a system that was so complicated and everything was read, read, read. Playing fast is really all I know. After you get one read or two reads, you go after it and that’s really my preferred method of play.”

On his health...
I had a bad shoulder injury coming in but I'm good. My strength is coming back and now I'm fine. They have me out here full contact. Unless something goes wrong I should be good to play.

On his current role...
I'm playing sam with the threes but after the scrimmage I started getting reps with the twos. There are a bunch of guys in the mix. Everyone was recruited here for a reason.
