Grace: This defense is way more aggressive

Read on to see everything senior strongside linebacker Jermaine Grace was saying following Thursday's practice.

On the new defense:
Very aggressive. We blitz a lot and do a lot of man to man coverage. It’s not hard. You only have a few plays and everyone is able to play fast.

On the freshman linebackers:
I love them. They’re running with the ones. Those guys are focused, way more than I did. They’re starting as freshmens right now. They’re being focused, ready to grind, and ready to be coached up.

On the depth at LB:
Behind me is Perry. Gordinier is in the middle and Juwon is playing will. I don’t know what Darrion will play. He won’t play sam so it’ll either be mike or will. I’m excited for him to come back.

On playing sam now instead of will:
I love it. That’s where you are like a safety/linebacker rover type and that’s what I am. That is what I’ll be playing at the next level most likely. I love what I’m doing because it gives me a chance to cover great players 1 on 1. I have to learn how to keep my feet moving like the DBs.

On the other LB spots:
Will and mike are always in the box and they control what goes on inside the box. I’m outside of there. Gordinier has been doing good in the middle. Those guys are fighting and competing right now.

On who he compares his game to:
I don’t really know a rover but a safety I can be like is, I don’t really compare myself to other players. I’m gonna be Jermaine Grace. If I will be a special teams player, I’ll do whatever it takes to help my team.
