Jhavonte Dean was just recently offered by Miami.
"Thankful to receive an offer from the hometown team, the University of Miami," Dean announced late last week.
At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, Dean plays cornerback at Blinn Junior College. Originally from South Dade High in Homestead, Dean signed with Cincinnati out of high school. He was unable to qualify and enrolled at Blinn, where he turned in an excellent freshman season in 2015. He was named a SWJFC second team All-Conference pick in his first year and is ready for a big sophomore season in 2016.
Dean's first offer this spring came from UCF and he had a handful heading into the summer. His recruitment has exploded the last couple weeks, however. Alabama, Florida, and now Miami have offered just in the last week or so.
He's been to Alabama already this summer but he was born and raised in Homestead so UM is home to him in many ways. It's hard to tell how serious he is about the Canes for right now but he's definitely someone Canes fans should be watching closely.
Miami has 15 commitments in its 2017 class right now but they're still seeking their first true cornerback pledge.
