UM Battling LSU,Bama for WR Visiting Saturday

LSU and Alabama are considered the front-runners for a Louisiana wide receiver prospect who is expected to be on Miami's campus this weekend. Read on for the latest on this elite WR prospect.

Devonta Smith is widely considered one of the top overall prospects in the state of Louisiana and one of the top wide receiver prospects in the entire country. The Amite (LA) High standout is expected to be on Miami's campus for their Paradise Camp on Saturday.

At 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds, here are some of Smith's numbers from this year's NIKE Camp:
4.13/shuttle
35-inch vertical jump
38-foot power toss

As you can see, he has tremendous quickness, leaping ability, and strength. Combine that on a 6-foot-1 frame and you can see why he's being recruited nationally.

He's been to both Alabama and LSU several times this year so it's easy to see why they're considered the favorites at this stage of the recruiting process. According to Scout.com's Corey Bender, Smith is expected to be at Miami's camp this Saturday. That indicates some interest in the Canes, and it'll be a tremendous opportunity for the Hurricane coaches to impress him and hopefully increase his interest in the school.

The Canes already have three wide receiver commitments in the 2017 class but Smith is considered a better prospect than those three so this Saturday will be very important in terms of Miami's chances here.
