Q&A with Rayshawn Jenkins

Read on to see what safety Rayshawn Jenkins was saying following Wednesday's practice.

On whether he thinks the defense ready for the start of the season

“Really comfortable, I feel like everyone trusts each other, the coaches and the process and everyone is working hard. That’s going to translate to the field and you are going to see a better Cane’s defense.”

On players having to step up due to injuries

“It’s next man up mentality. They have to step in because it’s just like someone going down midseason. The guy just has to step up and fill that role. We don’t think about that too much, we just have the next man up mentality and the next guy we know will play just as good as the guy he is filling in for.”

On his goals for his senior season

“I just want to play hard. I’m just going to trust my coaches and everything else will follow. I don’t want to think about it too much because then guys get too antsy and bad things start to happen. So I am just going to stay calm and do what I normally do. You are going to see a better me, because I am going to run to the ball and tackle way better than last year.”

On seeing the new defense get to work on Saturday

“You always want to see your artwork on film. Because what you put on film is your identity. So of course you want to go out there and put stuff together against different guys because we have been practicing against our own guys for about a moth and a half now. And I just feel like going out there is going to be exciting because we get to do it against a different team now.”
