Wednesday Q&A with Mark Richt

Read on to see what coach Mark Richt was saying following Wednesday's practice.

On Michael Badgley’s missed kicks:
The first one he just missed. The operation was fine. The second one the operation was fine and he just kicked it low. The goal is to get it up and through and not hit it as hard as you can. Long kicks, I can see it but not on extra points and short field goals. He can self-correct it.

On Darrion Owens:
I watched him a little bit today. He still has a hitch in his giddy up but he’s moving around much better. He moved around really well when the ball was snapped in the game.

On the expected noise at App State:
The noise affects the quarterback the most. Does he have the poise to handle it? That’s the biggest key to playing on the road in my opinion. Brad’s been it before. Listen to his post-game comments. He talks about how he needs to get better. He’s getting us in the right position in the running game. There is more to playing quarterback than slinging the ball around. I think he’ll do fine.

On Brad Kaaya being off in the play-action game:
He dropped straight back in the pocket on the flag route to Coley and just missed him. I don’t think it’s that. We have to get in the right place in the pocket. We have to get in the right position and then start operating from there.
