Offensive Coaches Talk FSU

Read on to see what some of Miami's offensive coaches are saying a few days before the team takes on Florida State.

Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown

On the meaning of this game…

“I think it’s important for us to make sure we’re doing a good job of being consistent. Not let the game get too big for itself and start to do things differently than we’ve done all year long. Control what we can control, which is our effort and attitudes every single day. I think the emotion of this type of game will take care of itself. There’s no big motivational speech needed or trying to create some other false sense of atmosphere. I think just being able to execute what we do on offense and give ourselves the best shot to be successful on game day.”

On the importance of establishing the run against the Seminoles…

“I think it’s the same. I think it’s being able to be balanced on offense, which I think means being able to run the football when it’s time to run the football. Also set up some opportunities to throw the ball down the field. It’s going to give us a chance to keep the ball moving, keep our defense off the field, and score some points.”

Wide Receivers Coach Ron Dugans

On freshman Ahmmon Richards…

“He’s done a good job, the kid competes. I love his enthusiasm on game day, whether he’s catching the football or somebody springs a long run., he gets excited for his teammates. The kid is doing a good job for us.”

On if Richards has exceeded expectations…

“I know he could be a really good football player for us as a freshman, I just want to see consistency, especially from the run game, throwing blocks, stuff like that. I won’t say he’s exceeded expectations, but I just want to keep working with him.”

On if there are any special feelings facing his alma mater

“No. For me, it’s just another game, it is my alma mater, but I just look at it as the next team on the schedule. That’s how I look at everybody, it’s a big time football game, I’m excited to go against those guys and it’ll be a good game.”
