Richt Addresses Weather Situation & More

Read on to see what Mark Richt was saying following Wednesday's practice.

On the potential plans for Thursday

"Whether it's safe enough to travel and get over here, and maybe get in the Wellness Center or at least in the [volleyball] gym. Wellness Center would probably be a longshot because of employees and all that kind of thing. If we're allowed to get some work done over here, we'll probably do that. If we're not allowed to, we'll figure something out."

On what the backup plans are…

"We’ll have a Plan B, but we didn't find out anything until during practice. I told Don Corzine, our director of football operations, that me and him would regroup after all of my media responsibilities and decide exactly what we were going to do. We've thought about a couple of things. We'll let everyone know once we figure it out. Right now we told the  players to be ready to be texted for the next thing. Classes until 5 p.m., tutoring, weightlifting, anything that

they're normally responsible for, they have to get it in prior to 5 o'clock. By the time that happens, we'll know exactly how we want to go forward."

On if using the Miami Dolphins’ indoor practice bubble is a possibility…

"At certain times. It's not like all day, every day. We can get in there, it's a matter of if we want to get in there during that timeframe, because hey have work to do as well."

On if he has ever dealt with a situation similar to the one he is dealing with now, as it relates to weather…

"Yeah. Just about every time it would lightning in Georgia, I was dealing with trying to figure out what Plan B was. It's not that strange."

On the energy level of the team today…

"I would not look at the thing and say they had a lot of energy today. I would look and say they were fighting through the adverse conditions of heat and humidity, and coaching pressure. That's what I would say."

On how the rivalry between Miami and Florida State has changed…

"I haven't been involved in 15 years. It's been a while. A lot of has changed since that time. One thing that has changed is that Miami is now in the ACC, and it's an ACC game. It's very crucial to our journey as we're trying to become Coastal Division champs. That's the biggest change."

On Dalvin Cook…

"He's like a lot of backs. If you give him a crease or give him some space, he's very difficult to take down. He gets his momentum going through the line of scrimmage, it's going to be tough. Our goal is to try not to let him get started with a lot of space to begin with. It's hard to do. They're good at blocking and he's good at finding it. They're very serious about running the football, and that's why he had the numbers he has had in his career. He's an impressive guy."
