LB/SS Hoping to Impress UM

A few years ago, Pahokee was home to one of the state's most exciting players in quarterback Anquan Boldin. Unfortunately for Miami, the Hurricanes lost a heated recruiting battle to Florida State at the time. Fast forward to this year and both programs may soon due battle again for Boldin's younger brother, Demir.

At 6-feet and 200 pounds, the younger Boldin is coming off a solid junior season in which he had 150 yards receiving and finished the year with 67 tackles, five caused fumbles, and nine sacks as a defensive end/linebacker. He'll play both ways again this season.

"I'm always going both ways," Boldin said. "That's just how I do it. I'll play anywhere, just give me a chance. I feel like I'm the best player on the field every week."

Boldin, who carries a 3.0 GPA and will take the ACT next month, also plays basketball and will run track this school year. In the meantime, he has the recruiting process to deal with.

"Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Michigan State, and Georgia Tech are the schools I'm considering," he said. "Except for FSU and UM, they all have offered me and so did Iowa, West Virginia, people like that."

Boldin said he spoke to the UM coaches in the spring and almost attended their summer camp.

"They invited me to their camp and I wanted to go but I wasn't able to make it."

Boldin said he wishes he had attended so that he could have competed with so many talented players.

"I'll go up against anyone," he said. "I don't care where you (are) from. Just bring it, that's how I see it. Line me up against anyone and I'll make plays."

Boldin said he's spoken to Anquan briefly about the recruiting process.

"He basically told me to really think it over and choose the best place for me," he said. "Even though he played at Florida State, he just wants to make sure I'm happy wherever I go."

Boldin said he's hoping to get offers from the two in-state programs within the next month or so.

"They want to see a few games of my senior year first," he said. "I'll show em. They're gonna like what I do out there. If I get offers from them, I'll just take it from there and see what happens later on. That's what I'm hoping for."
