O-Line Talks Notre Dame

Read on to see what offensive line coach Stacy Searels and some of his players are saying a few days before the team travels to take on Notre Dame.

Stacy Searels, Offensive Line Coach

On the play of senior Danny Isidora…

“Danny comes to work every day and regardless on what’s going on around him, he’s pretty consistent. We can all get better, but I really appreciate the way Danny leads, the way he works, the way he competes and he cares.”

On what adjustments the offensive line has made…

“We got a standard and the standard is set real high here at Miami, real high. There have been some outstanding offensive lines here and we’re not going to lower that standard and we’re going to demand that we do it right, until we get it right and we have a ways to go there.”

Nick Linder, Jr., Offensive Line

On the offense living up to expectations…

“We can do better of course and that’s what we are trying to do every day. I feel like we had a great practice today, it was a tough Tuesday; it was a big fundamental day, a big ‘get after it’ kind of day. I feel like we did better today.”

On the play of senior Danny Isidora…

“He’s a really good player and I’ve been playing through about 20 games next to him. He’s a great player to have next to and Danny always knows his assignment. He’s a seasoned vet.”

Trevor Darling, Jr., Offensive Line

On what Notre Dame means…

“We’re just excited as a team and up for the challenge. We’re just getting together and working on the things we need to work on to handle our business.”

On the offensive line’s mindset amidst its struggles…

“The mindset is just come to work and fix things we need to work on and continue to get better as a unit.”

Danny Isidora, Sr., Offensive Line

On the mood of the team…

“It’s tough…we’re just trying to get better and just know that we’re not lacking in anything, we just need to correct things. We’re not lacking in talent, hard work, or effort. It’s just small things that we’re missing on that we need to fix.”

On expectations for the offensive line…

“For me, it’s high. It’s being nasty, it’s cutting, it’s everything: finishing your block, putting a guy on his back. We need to play to that standard (of Hurricanes offensive lines).”
