Thursday Injury Updates

Read on for the absolute latest injury update for the Hurricanes as they prepare to take on Virginia Saturday.

The biggest news of this week's injury report is that UM has ruled center Nick Linder out for the rest of the season. The junior from St. Thomas Aquinas High and younger brother of former UM lineman Brandon Linder, Nick has started the last 22 games at center for the Hurricanes but inured his shoulder a couple weeks ago. He tried playing through the injury against Pittsburgh but he was unable to. He was replaced by senior Alex Gall. After having shoulder surgery earlier this week, Linder is now out for the rest of the season.

Junior left tackle Trevor Darling, the team's starter there for the last two seasons, inured his knee recently and is considered doubtful for this weekend's game against Virginia. Kc McDermott will likely start in Darling's spot at left tackle meaning the Hurricanes will be playing without the two starting tackles they entered the season with (right tackle Sunny Odogwu is already out for the season and has been replaced in the lineup by Tyree St Louis). Tyler Gauthier will likely start at left guard on Saturday if Darling is unable to go.

Switching over to the defensive side of the ball, Adrian Colbert has been ruled out and won't play Saturday. The senior cornerback transferred in from the University of Texas before the season and has shared time in the starting lineup with Sheldrick Redwine this season as the team's second cornerback behind Corn Elder. Redwine will get the start Saturday, as Colbert will not dress. It's unclear when Colbert will return to the lineup but it likely won't be until the team's bowl game.
