Thursday Q&A with Chad Thomas

Read on to see what junior defensive end Chad Thomas was saying on Thursday.

On the upcoming bowl opponent West Virginia…

“They’re a great opponent, someone that you can get ready for and just work hard for during the week, so we could go to the game and dominate.”

On if there is extra motivation playing a ranked team…

“I can’t really say that it’s motivation. I’m a football player, any team they put in front of us, and we’re going to work hard for and get ready for them and respect them as an opponent.”

On what it means having the game in Orlando…

“I enjoy it a lot. I was praying for that, having a close game that’s only a three-or four-hour drive. Since it’s close to him, I can have more family members come. Plus it’s a warm game, we won’t have to play in the cold, it’s great.”

On how big the momentum is to win a bowl game…

“It’s a lot of momentum. The coaches aren’t looking at this as the end of the season, it’s a game that’s on to the next year, to start a great next year. So that’s what we’re focused on.”

On how he sees the development of the young defensive players going into next year…

“I’m scared of that. I’m just here watching Shaq [Quarterman], Mike [Pinckney] and Zach [McCloud] growing up and they’re just learning what they got to do. They’re serious in the weight room and the meeting room. They’re real football players.”
