Adrian Colbert, R-Sr., Defensive Back

On being medically cleared to play in the bowl game…

“It feels great. I’m excited to be back. I’ve been excited since my surgery. The doctor gave me the prediction to be back for the bowl game.”

On his thoughts when he got injured in the Notre Dame game…

“When it happened, I went to the sideline and thought it was a stinger and I came back out. In the fourth quarter after they scored that last touchdown, my arm kind of went dead and I wasn’t sure if I could help my team like that. I would probably hurt us more than I could help. I went to the sideline and they took me in the locker room and x-rayed it. They were touching it first and the doctor said I might have broke it so I was crying on the sideline and then I saw the x-ray.”

On if he thought that was the end of his college career…

“Kind of and kind of not because the doctor told me, ‘You healed from that knee injury quite well, so it depends on how you take care of your body.’ I locked in the moment he told me that and decided I was going to be back for the bowl game or by Duke.”

On if he felt he was playing with the injury when it happened…

“I did play with it. I played with it for a couple plays actually.”

On watching the Notre Dame game film since the injury…

“I’ve watched it like 100 times. I get clips sent to me and people tag me in it. On my ESPN app, I watch it on my Xbox.”

On Mike Mayock tagging him in a clip from the Notre Dame game…

“I’ve seen it. He kind of downplayed me asking if I could play or not. I’ve got another chip on my shoulder.”

On the play that caused the injury…

“I was making a natural form tackle and the left arm got around and the right arm didn’t just get around in time. It hit his knee and I was going pretty fast.”
