Canes Offer Pair of Local DL

The Hurricanes offered two of the top defensive line prospects in south Florida Monday. Read on to learn all about both players.

"Blessed to receive an offer from University of Miami" -- Kayode Oladele

"I'm extremely excited and blessed to receive an offer from THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI!" -- Nesta Silvera

Oladele is a very talented edge pass rusher from Miami Edison High. At 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, here were Oladele's athletic testing numbers at last year's Nike combine:

5.18/40

5.00/shuttle

29-inch vertical jump

37-foot power toss

Oladele turned in a strong junior season at Edison and is now being recruited like one of the area's top defensive end prospects. Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Wisconsin are some of his other early offers. He's already been to several schools (he camped at both FSU and UF last summer) including Miami on numerous occasions so the possibility of an early commitment isn't unlikely.

Silvera, who started his prep career at Cypress Bay, played his junior season at American Heritage. He finished the 2016 season with 75 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks.

Here were Silvera's testing numbers at last year's Nike Combine:

5.55/40

5.27/shuttle

24-inch vertical jump

37-foot power toss

Florida State, South Carolina, and Georgia were some of his early offers.

The Hurricanes currently have eight commitments in the 2018 class but none of them are defensive linemen.
