Thursday Q&A with Jaquan Johnson

Read on to see everything safety Jaquan Johnson was saying following Thursdays practice.

Jaquan Johnson, Jr., Defensive Back

On junior defensive back Sheldrick Redwine

“Sheldrick has done real good. He has picked up the defense very well. You know, that is my roommate, so we have been working on the playbook since they made the transition of him at safety. So he is doing well, he is catching on quick. He is a veteran, as well, because he was at cornerback. So the defense is coming really easy to him.”

On his reaction to Sheldrick Redwine making the transition from corner to safety…

“I was excited, another [Killian] Cougar back there with me, so I was just thinking we will do some damage together.”

On how it helps coming from the same high school and being roommates…

“Oh, you know, the bond is there. The brotherhood is there. It is just us working on our little details together. Communicating and everything is just falling into place like that.”

On what he has seen from freshman defensive back Amari Carter…

“He is picking it up real well, where he left off from high school. He has been real urgent and physical. He just has to get the little details down, but for the most part, all we ask of him to do is run to the ball and tackle. Everything else is going to take care of itself.”
