Canes Offer 4-star DT Prospect

The Hurricanes offered one of the nation's top defensive tackle prospects on Sunday. Read on to learn about him and what their chances are.

Keondre Coburn says the Hurricanes offered him Sunday.

"What a blessing to get a offer from the U aka The University of MIAMI Hurricanes"

Coburn is a 2018 defensive tackle prospect from Westfield HS in Houston, TX.

He checked into a Nike Camp at 6-foot-1 and 329 pounds. Here are his other testing numbers from it:
5.53/40
4.80/shuttle
24-inch vertical jump
34-foot power toss

He's clearly an interior prospect who is a wide body and does a very good job of plugging the middle of the line of scrimmage and letting the linebackers behind him flow cleanly to make plays. He's a powerful kid who is being recruited like the best interior defensive line prospect in the state of Texas.

Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Penn State, Michigan, and Florida State were some of his early offers. He's been to Texas A&M and Oklahoma multiple times so it's reasonable to believe they're the early teams to beat. Until he visits here and sees what UM is all about, it's tough to think the Canes will have much of a shot. However, he's another player to keep an eye on at an important position.

The Canes currently have one interior defensive line commitment in 4-star Nesta Silvera.
