DL Enjoyed UM/UF Game

Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely standout defensive lineman Brandon Daniel loves whenever he gets a chance to check out the University of Miami for a couple reasons.

"Well first is they play in big games and it was great to see the game against the Gators," Daniel said. "I couldn't believe Miami came back at first but that's Miami. I also love getting the chance to see my Ely boys. Tyrone, Andrew, all of them. I'm tight with all four of those guys."

Daniel, who helped Ely open its season with a 28-0 win over Western, registered five tackles and two sacks in that game. He talked more about his former teammates.

"They were all pretty happy (after the game)," he said. "I talk to them a lot and they all say that if Miami offers I need to come."

Daniel said he's hoping that offer isn't too far around the corner.

"Coach Hargreaves has called and he told me they just need to see my first couple games before they can (offer)," he said. "I got off to a good start and I'll just keep showing them whats up."

At 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, Daniel is being recruited as a tackle by the Hurricanes. Most other programs like him as an end, where he currently plays.

"I've also heard from Florida, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Iowa State, N.C. State, Ole Miss, Ohio State, and Rutgers," he said. "All of them except Ole Miss and Miami have offered me already."

Daniel, who denies a favorite, did have some positive things to say about Miami.

"I'm a Miami fan," he said. "I hope they offer. It would be great to play with my boys. But I want to take my visits. Right now, I know that I'll visit Pittsburgh. Other than that, it's wide open." Daniel has a former teammate, linebacker Clint Session, playing at Pittsburgh now.
