Canes Offer FSU Commitment

The Hurricanes made an offer today to a local 2018 standout who has been committed to Florida State. Read on to learn about it.

Patrick Joyner Jr says the Hurricanes offered him a scholarship on Thursday.

"Extremely blessed to receive my 18th offer from the University Of Miami"

Joyner, 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, is a junior defensive end prospect at South Dade High School who is currently committed to Florida State.

Joyner, who put his name on the recruiting map with a strong junior season, finished the 2016 year with 56 tackles and 18 sacks. He plays a standup pass rusher role at the prep level.

Maryland and Michigan State were his first couple offers this year before the Noles came calling in February. He committed to FSU last month. Now Miami is in the mix.

The Canes currently have the nation's top-rated recruiting class for 2018 but it's missing a pass rusher of this caliber. The only pass rushing prospect currently committed is Gregory Rousseau, who is considered somewhat of a project and hasn't been nearly as dominant as Joyner at the prep level.
