Bubba Baxa says he landed an offer from Miami on Wednesday.
"Blessed to receive my 2nd scholarship offer from the University of Miami!"
Baxa, 6-feet and 195 pounds, is a 2018 prospect from Pasadena Memorial HS in Texas.
Baxa, who also plays baseball and basketball, turned in a solid junior season. He connected on 5-of-9 fields, all 26 extra points, averaged 41.8 yards per punt, and sent 28 of his 42 kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks.
Kohl's Kicking, widely considered the nation's top kicking camp, ranks Baxa as the 5th best kicking prospect in the entire nation for the 2018 class.
"He is one of the best athletes in the 2018 class and with some small tweaks in his ball contact and finish through the ball, he can challenge for the top kicker ranking in the country," is how the website describes Baxa.
Army was Baxa's first scholarship offer last month and now Miami is number two.
Baxa is the second kicking prospect to have been offered by Miami in the 2018 class. Georgia's Evan McPherson was offered a few months ago but he recently committed to Mississippi State. With a second offer out now, it's very clear that UM plans on signing a kicker in their 2018 class. There's a good chance Baxa will be their guy and he could be Miami's next commitment.
Miami currently owns the nation's top-ranked recruiting class.
