Canes Land Saturday Commitment

The Hurricanes have the nation's top-ranked recruiting class and it added another member on Saturday. Read on for the details.

Bubba Baxa (6'0/195), a talented kicker prospect from Pasadena (TX) Memorial HS, committed to the Hurricanes on Saturday.

Baxa, who also plays baseball and basketball, turned in a solid junior season. He connected on 5-of-9 fields, all 26 extra points, averaged 41.8 yards per punt, and sent 28 of his 42 kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks.

Kohl's Kicking, widely considered the nation's top kicking camp, ranks Baxa as the 5th best kicking prospect in the entire nation for the 2018 class.

"He is one of the best athletes in the 2018 class and with some small tweaks in his ball contact and finish through the ball, he can challenge for the top kicker ranking in the country," is how the website describes Baxa.

Army was Baxa's first scholarship offer last month and Miami was number two a couple weeks ago.

Baxa becomes the 18th member of what is the nation's top-ranked recruiting class.

Below is how he announced the commitment on Saturday.
