Canes Offer Local DB Prospect

The Hurricanes extended scholarship offers to a few standout performers from their camp this past weekend. Today an offer went to one of the area's top cornerback prospects. Read on to learn more.

"Excited and Blessed to receive my 11th offer from The University of Miami"

Those are the words from Nigel Bethel Jr, a 2018 cornerback prospect from Miami Northwestern HS.

At 5-foot-11 and 160 pounds, Bethel Jr was first offered by FAU back in January. Florida offered him in February and schools like Georgia and Louisville offered him during the spring. He came with his high school 7on7 team to Miami's camp this past weekend and was obviously impressive enough to land an offer from the Canes.

The Hurricanes currently have the nation's top-ranked recruiting class for 2018. Three players in that class are cornerbacks -- Josh Jobe, DJ Ivey, and Gilbert Frierson. Tyson Campbell is a major target for the Hurricanes and so it appears the UM coaches are willing to take five cornerbacks in this upcoming class.
