Ga. DB Will Visit UM

At 6-feet and 185 pounds, Stone Mountain (Ga.) Stephenson standout Michael Grant has been playing all over the field. And as expected, Grant has been making lots of big plays.

"In our first game, I returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown," Grant said. "I also had a fumble recovery and one rushing touchdown. I really didn't do much in the second game, and then I had two picks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and five tackles in our third game. I've been having a lot of fun but I wish we were 3-0 instead of 2-1."

Grant, who lines up at five different positions (QB/RB/WR/CB/FS), projects as a defensive back at the next level.

"Since I'll probably play cornerback in college that's what I'm trying to focus on the most," he said.

Grant, who said he was a state champion in track last season after running a 10.47 FAT 100m, has become a national recruit.

"Man, I couldn't even list everyone that's been in contact with me," he said. "Since I can only take five visits, I've already narrowed it down to five. They are UGA, Florida, Miami, Tennessee, and Arizona State. Those will be my five visits."

The talented defensive back is being recruited by UM coach Vernon Hargreaves.

"I like Miami a lot," he said. "Their team speed on defense is very impressive so I think I could fit in there. I'm going to try taking a visit there later in the year. Me and Josh (Johnson) might take a visit together. They still call, I've talked to them a few times."

Despite his interest in Miami, it appears all four schools from out of state are facing an uphill battle.

"I'm probably going to end up staying close to home," he said. "UGA is looking like the top school right now. I've been to a few of their games and have had a great time. They have a great thing going and it's close to home."
