Brooks Narrows List

At 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds, Ahmad Brooks is one of the nation's top linebacker prospects, and he's narrowed his list down. He talks about which schools made the cut, his visit schedule, and talks a lot about the Hurricanes and where they currently stand.

Brooks was 6-3 and 230 at the NIKE Training Camp and is now right at 235. He ran a 4.66 at that camp, which brings up the question (especially with the schools he's considering) whether he'll be a linebacker or a defensive end at the next level. Brooks says all schools like him as a linebacker. In two games this season, he has 14 total tackles and one sack. At tight end, he has two catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. Inside the clsssroom, his core is solid and he'll take the SAT on Oct 13.

Which schools have been calling you this month: Florida State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, USC, Miami, and Florida.

Which of those schools have sent you scholarship offers in the mail: Everybody has except for Miami.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: I don't know because it's still a long ways away. But if it were tomorrow, I'd probably sign with Virginia because it's close to home, I like what they're doing, and my parents like the coaching staff.

Have you scheduled any official visits yet: Not yet, but I know for sure that I'll visit Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Florida State. If I take any other visits, it'll probably be to Miami, Florida, or Tennessee.

Talk about Miami: I like them. I like Coach Hargreaves. They're having a great season. I will just have to find out more about the school because I dont know a whole lot about them right now. They'll probably be one of my last visits.

Personally, it sounds like Brooks is clearly leaning to Virginia and if that doesn't work, then it'll probably be Va Tech. But if he does decide to leave the state, then I like our chances, especially if he makes an official visit here. Anything can happen after that, including replacing Virginia with Miami as a possible favorite. A long ways away, so we'll see what happens - stay tuned.
