DL Enjoys First Visit

Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely standout defensive lineman Brandon Daniel took his first official visit of the year this past weekend to Virginia Tech and came away impressed.

"I really liked it there," Daniel said. "It's a nice area and the whole city is very big on the football team. It's sort of a smaller area than what I'm used to but I really liked it there. I could definitely see myself playing there."

Daniel has two other visits scheduled right now -- Pittsburgh on Nov. 28 and Kansas State on Dec. 19.

"I'll take those and probably two more," he said. "I also like Miami and Florida a lot. Miami said they're evaluating my senior tapes before offering in writing. They told me on the phone (that I have an offer). They're probably my top choice for now. A bunch of my former teammates are there and it would be nice to join them."

Daniel has helped his Ely team to a 3-1 start by registering 24 tackles and six quarterback sacks.

"I'm trying to do whatever it takes to help my team win," he said.

Daniel said he's hearing from UM coaches (Hargreaves) on a weekly basis.
