Kyle Wright Q&A

Kyle Wright is a freshman quarterback from Danville, California. Wright was a highly touted recruit from Monte Vista High School and came to Miami in January so he could be involved with spring practices. This season Wright is the third on the depth chart behind Brock Berlin and Derrick Crudup. Wright will likely be redshirted this season, but has been traveling with the team on road games.

How is your freshman season going?

I think it is going real well. I am learning a lot. I've been fortunate to travel every week, which gives me an opportunity to see what it is really like on the road. Even thought I get to sit on the sideline in full gear it is a bit frustrating. But it has been a lot of fun.

What did you notice about the environment at Florida State?

The tradition of the two teams. How serious we took everything all week. You know it's still 'a game is a game', but just the preparation, attitude, and focus of the guy was different.

How have the upperclassmen quarterbacks Brock Berlin and Derrick Crudup helped you this year?

They have helped me a lot. I think they are two really good role models to look up to. They work hard on and off the field. If I ever have a question they are quick to answer it.

How has quarterback coach Dan Werner helped your development as a quarterback?

He works with me every day and helps me with little things here and there. He tries to get me better whether it is in the film room or out on the practice field.

What has been the biggest difference from high school to college?

The speed. I am used to it now but definitely when I first got out here it was the speed. There is not a defense much faster than our's.

What was it like when you first got here on campus in the spring?

I liked it a lot. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I have gotten used to it.

How are classes going?

Real good. I took some in the spring so I am just continuing in the fall. I had about 18 credits before I started the normal school year when the other freshman got here.
