Canes Land OL Commit

Miami landed a big commitment - literally in Houston, Texas offensive lineman Tyrone Byrd. Byrd was offered earlier this week by Miami coaches and he committed on the spot.

JH: How is your season going?

TB: "It is going real well, but we have suffered some major losses. We are 4-3 right now and 2-2 in district play. We still have a good shot at making the playoffs. I think I am doing real well. I have been playing my heart out and giving all I have. I have no regrets right now about how I am playing. Our whole offensive line is doing well at the line of scrimmage. I have to defend at my fellow offensive linemen, because most people just watch the wide receiver and they just think that we are crazy. So, I have to take up for us and I just can't talk about ourselves, but as a group we are dominating at times."

JH: Have you taken any recruiting visits thus far?

TB: "No, sir."

JH: How are things going in recruiting for you at this time?

TB: "I have committed to Miami. They offered me two days ago and today I decided to hook up with them."

JH: Why Miami?

TB: "I am a Hurricane already at Hightower. I really can't do any better. It is a good school and I really believe that I can walk-on campus and I can be my self at Miami. I can be aggressive on my academics and on the football field, but I can be myself and that is important to me. They recruited me to play offensive tackle and that is where I want to play."

JH: Who else did you consider?

TB: "UCLA, LSU, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and OU."
