Joilet (IL) Catholic standout Mike Kolodziej (pronounced Kolo J) checked in at Notre Dame's summer camp in June at 6-foot-8 and 292 pounds and ripped off a 5.10/40. Talk about an athlete, this kid's one of the most athletic big men around. Inside the classroom, he carries a 3.65 GPA and has already received a qualifying test score. Kolodziej is enjoying a strong senior season playing both ways although the school doesn't release official stats each week.

Which schools have been calling you this month: All of the Big 10 schools, Nebraska, Miami, Notre Dame, Boston College, Vanderbilt, and Missouri.

Which of those schools have sent you scholarship offers in the mail: I have a list of them - Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Miami, Arkansas, North Carolina State, and Boston College.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: I have five schools that are my favorites right now - Michigan, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Miami, and Boston College. I also like Nebraska a lot, too.

Have you scheduled any official visits: I'll be doing that after the regular season. I'll visit the schools in my top five.

Talk about the University of Miami: I like Miami a lot. They use the tight end a lot in their offense. Miami's tight ends are always very effective. I'd love to do the things they do. Against Penn State, the tight end had six or seven catches just in the first half. Their tight end coach does a great job. I love talking to him on the phone. He's always talking about how well their tight ends are doing. He's a great guy and I really get along well with him. Miami's definitely one of my favorites and I plan on making it one of my official visits.

Personally, I think Kolodziej is an outstanding prospect. It seems to me like he's up there with Oklahoma's Curtis Justus as one of the top tight end prospects this year. He really gets along with Chud and I think the visit will be very important because he's already unofficially visited the schools he's considering in the Midwest. Hosting a strong official visit for this kid would increase our chances tremendously. I'll be sure to have a full report when he schedules that visit and also one after he takes it, so stay tuned. Kolodziej's full profile is in the recruiting database along with the other tight ends that UM is currently recruiting.
