Hand Ready for Miami Offer

At 6-foot-6 and 295 pounds, Estero's Randy Hand is one of the state's top offensive line prospects. The full academic qualifier talks about the recruiting process, his official visits, and offers his comments on the University of Miami program in this exclusive interview with grassy.com.

Hand checked into a few summer camps at 6-foot-6 and right around 300 pounds. He says he's down around 295 right now, and he's still running in the 5.15 range. Hand has helped lead his Estero team to a 4-1 start this season. Inside the classroom, he carries a 2.85 GPA and a 1080 SAT score. He was one of the top performers at the Down & Dirty Linemen Camp in Lakeland back in July.

Which schools have been calling you this fall: Virginia, Michigan, Miami, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Kentucky, Florida, and quite a few other schools.

Which of those schools have offered you a scholarship: Pretty much everyone has offered me except Michigan hasn't. Miami hasn't and Florida hasn't. Florida said they just needed some more tape and they would be offering soon. Michigan just got the tape, and Miami - I'm pretty sure I'll get one from them.

If signing day were tomorrow, what's it looking like: My top schools are Virginia, Florida, Michigan, Miami, and probably Georgia.

Have you scheduled any official visits: Yes, I am going to Virginia on December 7.

Talk about the University of Miami: I like Coach Kehoe quite a bit. He worked with me at Down & Dirty and I really like how he coaches. They'll probably be one of my other visits.

Personally, it sounds like Hand is wide open at this stage in the recruiting process and any of the five schools he mentioned still have a chance. Visits will probably play the major role here, so it'll be important that Miami's able to get a visit from this talented lineman. He's probably the third best offensive linemen I've seen inside the state this year and I think Miami will be offering him by the end of the season, so stay tuned.
