RB/WR Having Awesome Year

Greenville (N.C.) Rose standout running back/wide receiver Andre Brown is having an outstanding senior season. "We're 9-1 and we start the playoffs this week," Brown said. "I just hope we can keep winning."

Brown has rushed for 2,350 yards and 30 touchdowns so far this season as a running back. He's added 300 receiving and five touchdowns.

Brown, who is now bench pressing 385 pounds and will later compete in varsity basketball and baseball, is a former receiver.

"I played wide receiver when I first got to high school but I've been a running back the last few years," he said. "I guess some people like my hands and stuff at receiver."

The talented playmaker hasn't been paying a whole lot of attention to the recruiting process up to this point but does have an idea of what he'll do.

"The only game I went to this year is Virginia/Wake because I was on my official visit," he said. "I have a visit to Nebraska for the 15th but it's a little iffy right now because we will still be playing, I hope. I'll just reschedule that one. I have NC State scheduled for December 5th too. The other two will be to Miami and Tennessee but I dont have dates for those yet."

Brown, who claims scholarship offers from all five programs, said he's been talking to the UM coaches on a regular basis.

"We just talk," he said. "They like to keep in touch and talk about me coming in for a visit. They know that I'm interested."

Brown had a chance to watch the Hurricanes and Hokies play on Saturday night.

"I couldnt believe the way Miami got destroyed," he said. "Their quarterback really struggled and that was the difference. Jarrett Payton was running well and you know Miami's got the receivers. They'll be back, though, that's Miami."

Brown, who is being recruited by Miami to play wide receiver, said he's looking forward to his visits.

"I wanna win a state title first," he said. "When I go on my visits, I just want to feel comfortable. I want to be able to go out with the players and just joke around and have fun with them. I just wanna be one of them. If someone makes me feel comfortable, that's where I'll go. I dont care if it's close or far, I just wanna fit in well with the players on the team now."
