Tight End Looking for UM Offer

At 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, Brian Mattes is getting plenty of recruiting action. He talks about all of it and offers his thoughts on the University of Miami in this exclusive interview with grassy.com.

In six games this season, Mattes has 42 tackles and seven sacks playing defensive end. At tight end, he has 16 receptions for close to 200 yards and no touchdowns. Inside the classroom, he carries a 4.1 GPA and 1220 SAT score.

Which schools have been calling you this fall: All six of my favorites - Notre Dame, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, and Penn State - and a few others.

Which of those schools have offered you a scholarship: All of my favorites have.

Is Miami among those also calling: Yes, I've gotten a few calls from Miami in the last few weeks. They haven't offered me yet, though. I took a visit there this summer and really enjoyed it. My coach is sending some tape to Miami this week, actually.

Have you scheduled any official visits: Not yet, but Notre Dame, Virginia, and Georgia Tech are definitely going to get visits.

If Miami offers, will they become one of your favorites: That's definitely possible. If they offer me, I'll definitely consider taking a visit to Miami.

Personally, it sounds like Mattes is simply focusing on the schools who have offered him to this point. If Miami does offer, things could change. Until then, stay tuned...
