DT Will Visit UM

At 6-foot-2 and 310 pounds, West Jefferson, La. standout defensive tackle Marlon Favorite is having an outstanding senior season. In helping his team to a 10-0 record, Favorite has 85 tackles and 10 sacks on the season.

"I just go out and play hard," Favorite said. "It's gotten me this far. My motor never stops and it gives me an advantage. I like to win and this season's been fun so far but we're not there yet."

Favorite, a full academic qualifier, remains one of the most heavily recruited defensive prospects in the state of Louisiana.

"Man, the phone calls can be crazy sometimes," he said. "They call at all times of the day and week. I guess it'll be like that until I make my decision."

Speaking of a decision, Favorite is looking at five main programs at this point in the recruiting process.

"It's out of LSU, Miami, Nebraska, USC, and Colorado," he said. "Maybe Oklahoma State too. I've got (written offers) and now I'm in the process of setting up my trips."

The talented defensive lineman has three of his visits lined up already.

"Colorado is on the 9th of January, USC is on the 16th, and LSU is on the 30th," he said. "I'm playing in the All-American Bowl the first part of the month. I still need to finalize when the Miami and Nebraska visits will be. That might be in December, it might be in January, I dont know yet."

Favorite said he's had a chance to watch the Hurricanes in recent weeks.

"The defense has been fine," he said. "They have been playing really good. It's the offense that's hurting them right now. Once the offense gets back on track, so will their team."

Favorite wants to make sure people know that he's still very wide open in the recruiting process.

"People ask me all the time if LSU is my leader or whatever," he said. "How can I say that if they're the only one I know? I know all about them and it's a great place but that doesn't mean it's the best place for me. I'll be able to determine that after my trips."
