DT Still Torn Between Two

Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater standout defensive end Aaron Jones is putting most of his focus on finishing this season before getting too heavy into the recruiting process. "It's something we have to deal with because of all the phone calls and trips and stuff like that," he said.

"But seriously, I'm more focused on winning right now. We got Oviedo this week and then we gotta win three more. I wanna get back to states and win it."

Jones, 6-foot-3 and 270, is having an excellent season on the field.

"I'm still getting doubled, tripled, whatever it takes to try to take me out of the play," he said. "It doesn't matter though because I still find a way to get there (to the ball)."

The talented defensive tackle prospect continues to list two in-state programs as his favorites.

"It's still outta Florida State and Miami," he said. "I really can't say right now which one is highest because I still need to take the rest of my visits. I like a lot of things about Florida State and plus, me and Kenny (Ingram) were just there for the game last week."

Jones and Ingram made an unofficial visit to Tallahassee to watch the Noles take on N.C. State.

"It was tight," he said. "The crowd was really into it. We got to chill on the field before the game and then in the locker room after. I was surprised at how small their tackles are, like Darnell Dockett and (Broderick) Bunkley. I'm bigger than they are. They gave up a lot of points but that's because NC State has a really good quarterback."

Jones has had a chance to watch the Hurricanes in recent weeks as well.

"They're struggling right now but their defense is straight," he said. "I think their quarterback is hurting them. Once they get that taken care of, they'll be straight. I had a great time at FSU and I seem to be more comfortable there. Me and Kenny are going to Miami on December 19th. That's a week after states. We'll get to see a lot more of what Miami's like."

Jones said there's a chance that the teammates will sign with the same college.

"It's possible we'll stay together," he said. "He likes Miami a lot. Actually, he's going out to Southern California this week. I didn't wanna go. All my visits will be around here, the furthest being Tennessee."

Jones is a full academic qualifier.
