Leggett Breaks Down Favorites

There might not be a more talented wide receiver prospect anywhere in the country than Arlington (Texas) Grace Prep standout Lance Leggett. The talented senior helped his team win the state championship last Friday night after having 934 yards and 18 touchdowns.

"I'm real glad we won again," Leggett said. "I like to win."

So does the University of Miami and so does the University of Florida. Those are two of the programs competing for his signature.

"I really like Miami and Florida," he said. "Oklahoma too. I'm not sure about where my fifth visit will be yet. If I don't go to USC, it'll probably be somewhere around here."

Wherever that visit leads him, Leggett plans on playing college ball in what he calls his home state.

"I wanna come home," he said. "I wanna play in Florida. I'm really looking hard at those two. I've been to them both and I really like it."

Leggett had an in-home visit from UM coach Curtis Johnson on Tuesday night and will get one from Florida's receivers coach on Wednesday.

"At Miami, the players really work hard and love to compete," he said. "That's what I'm all about. I sometimes read and hear about some of these guys that don't want to go to a certain school because there's too much competition. I'm like, 'what?' I'll go anywhere because I think I can compete with anyone those two teams have."

Leggett said he sees a lot of young talent on both teams, especially Florida.

"Florida got some of the players that Miami wanted at receiver last year like Andre Caldwell," he said. "I talked to him about the recruiting process and he said he actually was all set to go Miami but then on his visit he didn't feel right or something. He went to Florida instead. Plus, don't you think Chris Leak will be the best quarterback in the country next year?"

Leggett also talked more about the Hurricanes.

"They had a couple of tough losses this year because the quarterback was struggling but they're always in the hunt," he said. "They'll be right back in it. Kyle Wright might be their new quarterback and I know he was right with Chris Leak as the best from last year. Miami's only got six receivers coming back next year. Ryan Moore's straight but I think I can play with any of those guys."

Leggett is a full academic qualifier and plans on taking another unofficial visit to Miami during Christmas break along with his father.
