Doucet Updates Status

It wasn't easy leaving the field last Friday night for St. Martinville, La. standout Early Doucet. He just saw his senior season come to an end, losing in the quarterfinals to John Curtis H.S. However, it's better than most people expected.

"We had a real young team coming into the season and to make it this far, a lot of people didn't expect it," Doucet said. "It's a tough feeling but I gotta move on. I'll take a little break and then get back into it."

The talented receiver prospect, who had 1,700 yards and 26 touchdowns of total offense this season, is one of the best in America at his position. He has the recruiting attention to prove it.

"I'm getting so many calls and now with the visits, it's getting pretty crazy," he said. "I'm really looking at three (programs) right now. My next visit will be to Miami on the 12th. That'll be it until the break."

Doucet, a full academic qualifier, has already received in-home visits from coaches at LSU and UM (Curtis Johnson) this week.

"We just talked about everything that's been going on," he said. "We talked about a lot of different things, stuff I had questions on. I just wanna be able to fit in and win games and he explained why that would be a good fit. Miami's real high on my list. I really got to know some of the players when I was there last week and I could definitely see myself playing there. He talked about how much they want me at Miami."

Doucet said he's hoping for a Sugar Bowl in his hometown that would match his two other favorites -- LSU and Oklahoma.

"I'm hoping that game happens," he said. "Oklahoma has a great offense and LSU has a great defense. It would be a real good game. The thing is, since I'm going to the All-American Bowl in Texas, I won't be here much when they're here. I'm gonna try to get back the day after our game so I can maybe be there (at the game)."

Doucet said he's still in the process of deciding which one he likes the most right now.

"I really don't know which one would be on top right now," he said. "They all got a lot to offer. It's not gonna be an easy decision, I know that much."
