TE's Visit Cancelled

Longview, Texas standout tight end Tate Casey took his first recruiting trip of the year to UCLA this past weekend. "It went really good," he said. "I had a chance to see them before but all I got was a tour. This time was different, I had a chance to see everything a little more. I had a chance to check out the stadium, the whole thing. I had fun."

At 6-foot-7 and 220 pounds, Casey is widely regarded as the top tight end prospect in the state of Texas. He has four other visits lined up.

"I have Arizona next weekend, then I have three in January -- Florida on the 9th, LSU on the 16th, and Arkansas on the 30th," he said. "By then, I'll be able to sit down and make a decision."

Casey had previously been scheduled to visit Miami this weekend but that appears to be off.

"It's weird because whenever Coach Stoops left Miami for Arizona, I stopped hearing from them," he said. "I was getting pretty interested in them and I still would be if they started calling again but I guess they're doing well with other tight ends. They have a kid already committed and I know they're involved with the kid from Arizona. But hey, that's the No. 1 tight end factory in the country so they should do well."

The talented tight end said he's even asked Mark Stoops about the situation.

"Coach Stoops started recruiting me for Arizona," he said. "He was by the school today actually. I asked him (about the situation with Miami) and he just said that maybe they're doing really well with some other kids. He had good things to say about Miami."
