DL Talks Recruiting

At 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds, Pomona, Calif. standout defensive end Eugene Germany started getting strong interest from the University of Miami in the middle part of the season. It then turned into weekly calls.

"Miami started getting real interested in me towards the end of the season," he said. "They joined into the mix a little later than the rest but who cares because they're one of the best programs in the whole nation."

Germany, who had 603 yards and five touchdowns on offense while playing tight end this season, has already taken three official visits.

"I went to Michigan when they played Illinois," he said. "110,000 people, it was crazy. People go nuts for football there. Oregon State and Washington State, they were tight too."

Germany was scheduled to visit Miami this weekend but that trip has been postponed.

"I was supposed to go out there this week but because I have to take the ACT, it was cancelled," he said. "Then I was able to find someone that I can visit after the test. So I'm going to Tennessee this weekend."

Germany said he'll decide between Miami and Southern Cal for his last visit.

"I'm not sure yet," he said. "I gotta see what Miami's talkin about. USC, I know about them already. I wanna see Miami. They know how to produce guys to the league and they're always winning."

The talented defensive end said while he's gotten several in-home visits, he's hoping Miami will be visiting soon.

"Michigan and Washington State came by the crib already," he said. "Oregon State's coming later today. SC's coming next week. I don't know about Miami yet, I'm gonna have to ask them about it."

Germany said he's not in position to name a favorite yet. "I'll do all that after my visits," he said.
