OL Sets More Visits

Edison High School in Miami has been one of the biggest attractions in south Florida for college coaches looking for high quality players. On a team that features eight Division 1 senior prospects, none are better than offensive lineman Jacky Claude.

At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Claude paved the way for a strong offense this season. It helped Edison reach the state semi-finals before losing to Naples, which will play for the 5A state championship on Friday night.

Claude said he's taking this week off while catching up on some rest but it hasn't been easy.

"I'm gonna start hitting the weights again but I wanted about a week off in between," he said. "But it's hard to just chill because of all the coaches. My mom actually went out of town this week so the coaches have been seeing me at school mostly."

Claude spoke to UM coach Curtis Johnson earlier this week.

"We were just catching up," he said. "He said how they gotta play Florida State again but, like always, they'll be ready. He said they're trying to bring in the best players so we just talked."

Claude, who will re-take the ACT, is ready to take his first official visit this coming weekend.

"I'm going up to N.C. State," he said. "It's just me. But then lots of us are going up to South Florida on January 9th. They offered almost all of us so we're going up there. Then I got Auburn, Florida State, and Rutgers for the rest of January."

The talented offensive lineman said he won't even use an official visit to Miami, unless he has a change of plans.

"UM is right down the road and I know what they're all about," he said. "If I get burnt out on my trips in January then maybe I'll go there instead of someone else."

Claude said he remains very high on the Hurricanes but two other programs are making their way up his list.

"I still like UM," he said. "They're a big time program, they're right down the road, and the coaches are tight. But N.C. State and Auburn are bending over backwards trying to get me. They're really going hard for me so I wanna go up there and see what it's like."

Claude was considering Ohio State but that's changed.

"I was up there for a training camp and then I went up there for an unofficial visit earlier this year," he said. "It was tight. I was supposed to go on an official visit on the 5th but I cancelled it."
