WR To Visit UM in January

Ecorse, Mich. standout wide receiver Mario Hines followed up an excellent performance at the University of Miami summer camp with a strong senior season on the field. Despite suffering through a 1-8 season, Hines played very well. He caught 17 passes for 545 yards and five touchdowns.

At 5-10 and 170 pounds, Hines is now training for track season.

In the meantime, the talented receiver is gearing up for some recruiting trips that he's been scheduling lately.

"I got four set up for January," he said. "On the 16th, I go to Marshall, on the 23rd I go to Arkansas, and either on the 9th or 30th I go to Miami. I'm also gonna visit Duke in January."

It appears the Miami visit will be on the 30th since classes for the spring semester don't begin until after the 9th.

Hines, who finished eighth in the state as a junior with a 200m time of 22.6, has scholarship offers from all of those schools except for Miami.

"I've been talking to Coach CJ," he said. "It's the same stuff. Coach Coker's still trying to get those big receivers and I understand that. They have some guys like me on the team now so they want to change it up some. I know CJ is high on me. He said he usually doesn't bring in guys for visits unless he has plans of offering them so that's pretty good. He's supposed to be coming here soon."

Hines is still hearing from several other major programs as well.

"I'm also gonna set (a visit) up to either Michigan State, Michigan, or Kanas State," he said. "They haven't offered yet but we'll see."

Hines is a full academic qualifier.
