Carter Talks About UM Visit

Melbourne (Fla.) Palm Bay standout wide receiver Xavier Carter took some time out of his night to update us on the latest.

"I'm just chillin now," Carter said. "I'm playing basketball, trying to do a little something out there. We're a young team, though. At the end of the month, I'm leaving for the All-American game in Texas, to show them a thing or two. Then I'll get ready to start running (track) again."

Carter, who was the national champion in both the 100m and 200m events as a junior last season, took an official visit to the University of Miami this past weekend. It was his second visit after visiting LSU last month.

"I really liked Miami," he said. "I was with Terrell Walden the most. We hung out with a lot of the other defensive backs. A lot of the guys were studying for finals and stuff. It was fun chillin with them."

The talented receiver, 6-3 and 195 pounds, said he had a chance to watch the Hurricanes compete in 7 on 7 drills.

"They were fun to watch," he said. "I was paying close attention to the receivers because I wanted to see what they had. They got some good ones but I think I can start over those guys if I went."

Carter said other parts of his trip stood out as well but the general feeling is what he remembers most.

"Just the overall atmosphere at Miami," he said when asked the difference between the two trips. "I thought that stood out to me."

Carter had a chance to meet with the UM coaches at the end of his visit and they discussed some other topics.

"I told them that I liked it," he said. "They're trying to bring in two receivers... no, three. But I still gotta take some other trips. I got Florida State for January 9th and then Florida after that. They're all really even right now."
